Early Years Foundation Stage

The Early Years Foundation Stage framework was introduced in September 2008. All nurseries, pre-schools and childminders are required to follow this framework for learning and development.

The framework identifies play as vital for children, as it is through play that children learn, grow and have fun. EYFS ensures that each individual child learns through high quality play that is tailored to them and so ensures they develop at their own pace.

The EYFS framework promotes the different agencies involved in each child, working in partnership together. In line with this I use Daily Diaries to keep parents fully informed of their child's day and any significant events or milestones that have occured.

To comply withe EYFS framework, I monitor the learning and development of each child. A folder is used to record each child's learning and development and is available for parents to view. Activites are pre-planned each week to build on the childs current stage of development.

The EYFS framework also requires me to meet welfare requirements and am inspected by Ofsted to ensure I am offering a quality service.
